The institutional mandate for this project was to totally re-engineer how student services would be delivered on campus, incorporating new technologies and bringing together all departments (11 total) under one roof.

Department areas feature low workstations arrayed in an open floor plan. State-of-the-art technology, reconfigurable walls, and movable systems furniture create a highly flexible environment that can be easily modified to accommodate changing staff size and operation.  Glass walls along broad circulation boulevards on all floor levels allow services and staff to be visible, making the building easy to navigate and encouraging social interaction.

The design responds to the institutional mandate to provide a friendly and welcoming student and visitor experience, and gives a human face to student services at UConn.
